Ever have that moment when you read someones posts on social media and you know the person is intelligent but you can't understand why they think the way they do. A persons view of something is determined by their own experiences and also from what they have heard or have been taught over time. Alrighty then, lets start by letting you guys know a little bit about me.
Early Years...My name is Sam. I was born in a small town in southern Arkansas. I grew up going to a Baptist church, public schools and my family was considered lower middle class. I viewed myself as one of the class clowns and had tons of friends just like most young kids. Life was great.
Teens...As I grew older it started becoming clear I liked boys instead of girls. That is when life got a little hard. Having all those thoughts and feelings for guys worried me to the point I was praying for assistance. Life outside the closet was still chugging along nicely though. The thought of getting out of my little town and seeing the real world was so appealing I joined the Navy.
Early 20's...The Navy was great for the length of time I was allowed to stay. I was outed as gay and the military had no choice but to let me go. It was during the time of "Don't Ask Don't Tell. I didn't "tell" but when they found out it was only a matter of weeks before I was a civilian again.
Out on my Own...After arriving back home from the military I met my future partner and we were together for about 13 years. It was a rocky road. Young and stupid.... Once was enough for me. Too scared to try the waters again I am single to this day. Happy though. As long as you have good friends and keep active doing things that make you happy.... You can't expect much more.
Era of Facebook... It's nice being able to check up on your friends with Facebook. I registered to vote for the first time in my life this year. Facebook was covered with election news. Looking into the issues from the different parties concerning race, religion, gender, sexual identity, I felt like I needed to speak up a little. I spoke up on Facebook which isn't the best place for bitching.
Blog...So, as not to clutter my friends Facebook feed with something other than uplifting, I will try and keep most of my Rants here instead.
